I'm thinking about having Rich (my hubby) build me a shelf for them. Right now they are on my dresser, with the clothes in boxes in the closet. We have four cats and I'm terrified that they will start "grooming" them, because they love to jump on there.

Most of the girls are on my dresser, and 3 of them are sitting on Felicity's bed, and Kit sits on my bed. But want to buy a couch for my room so can display them. Wish my extra room had more space for the doll collection, but is covered with bookcases! and books!

My girls are displayed on the top of a buffet in the entry foyer of my home when I am not playing with them.
Their clothes are in clear storage boxes in my bedroom's walk-in closet. I really would like a doll room and one of those amoire type doll closets, but DH does not want to add-on for a dollroom, and the cost of customizing an amoire
...well..dream on!

We have a large formal dinning room that has been taken over by the dolls. I have the seens and settings for Felicity, Molly and a Hacienda displayed all around the edges of the room. The dolls live in groups within the settings. In the Master bedroom the Samantha's and Kirstens settings are displayed and the respective dolls. I have 3 to 6 dolls in each group. They all have beds and lots of furniture. The doll's clothes and accessories are kept in roll around plastic drawers in the walk in closet. The Indian and Asian groups I made settings for and they are displayed in the family room. I'll post some photos one day when I have some time to take pictures. The Asian, Indian and Hacienda settings are in my signature. I have 2 rooms set up for Kirsten's group, 2 rooms for Molly's group, 2 rooms for Samantha's group and 4 rooms for Felicitys. I haven't posted any photos of any of these yet. I really would like a room where everything could all be together.

I don't :-(. I have a kitty who gets very upset when I leave her for long periods of time (ie, when I go off to school). If I'm gone too long, she goes into my room and starts destroying certain things. For instance, I have my AG Minis out on a dresser and she routinely jumps up and knocks everything down. Then she picks things up in her mouth, and carries them to other places in the house. And then they're lost for good, because while my mom might happen upon one or two, she can't keep track of them all.
With anything remotely soft and/or fluffy, after knocking it down she'll rip it to shreds, THEN carry it somewhere.
So I have to keep my dolls "put away" as a matter of self defense. Some day, I hope to have a glass-door bookcase, so I can show them off without worry.

I don't do accessories so I just set my dolls out in their dresses. I originally had all 9 on top of a bookcase but just convinced my husband to let me put 3 in the living room. So the 3 with the prettiest dresses that month are in the living room and 6 are on top of the office bookcase with my Madame Alexander dolls mixed in.
When I was a kid I had a shelf that I set my dolls on when I wasn't playing. Some sit and some stand.

My DD Ashley fell in love with Laurie's dollroom so now we have Brooke(agt24), Marisol and the Bitty Babies on our bookshelf with some of their things. She turned our large walk-in storage closet into a dollroom that I need to decorate. My dolls, Samantha and Molly, reside on my desk. Kit will be joining them soon. DD Kayli's Samantha has her new bed and she stays in it. I try to keep one of the other dolls with her so the cats don't think it's a bed for them. So far they haven't tried.

My guestroom perimeter is set up with vignettes of Lindsy's, Samanthas', Molly and Kirsten' bedrooms including their desks and dining tables. The bottom of the closet is set up like a "California Closet)for all the clothes (except for the ones in the trunks and armoires). I have taken a ziplock bag with the shoes & accessories, punched a hole, attached a rubberband and slipped it on the hanger. Everything is together on one AG hanger except for the larger hats. I have those in a hat box. I have one small shelf unit in the guest room that I use for the books and some accessories. I have bought wooden boxes from craft stores and painted them. They make excellent "toy boxes" for the girls. I put them at the foot of their beds.
We very rarely use our dining room so the 18th century has taken over. My dining room chairs are red & white checked so I have set up a vignette for Felicity and Elizabeth on my dining room table. The bed & nightstand look beautiful. I have the table and chairs and the writing chair. I am still awaiting the Press, the old one. Does anyone have one?
My granddaughter who will be six in Nov. is coming to stay with us for a couple of days soon. She is very excited. She is telling everyone she gets to sleep in Grammy's American Girl Place.
My dolls: Samantha (2) Felicity (4) Lindsey, Kirsten, Addy, Molly

If you take the "Virtual Tour" of my house (from the Maria's Doll House link in my signature) you can see lots of pics. I display my dolls in lots and lots of different ways.
